Rachel Shaver grew up dancing at local studios in Chesterfield, Virginia where she attended the Specialty Center for Visual and Performing Arts at Thomas Dale High School. She obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Shenandoah Conservatory and following graduation moved to New York City.
While in high school, Rachel performed two seasons of main stage shows with MoonMaxx Productions at King’s Dominion Amusement Park. Her focus shifted to concert work while in college and she was fortunate to join Christopher K. Morgan & Artists (CKM&A) as Apprentice, and then Company Dancer. Following graduation, Rachel’s self-choreographed solo work Antlers was presented on tour by CKM&A, and in various D.C. dance festivals including VelocityDC and The 34th Annual Choreographer’s Showcase. After relocating to NYC, Rachel continued training and performing with NYC artists including Mike Esperanza, Tiffanie Carson, and Rachel Thorne Germond in performances including On 1 Condition and APAP. She found a passion for teaching and choreographing, and is currently on faculty at various dance studios in the NYC surrounding area. Rachel has been commissioned as a guest artist to choreograph and participate in local festivals and residencies and has received numerous awards for choreographic excellence in contemporary dance.
